Mine shafts and tunnels are seen as “the perfect environment” for growing food such as vegetables and herbs.

The initiative is seen as a way of providing large-scale crop production for a growing global population.

Advocates say subterranean farms could yield up to ten times as much as farms above ground.

President of the World Society of Sustainable Energy Technology, Prof Saffa Riffat, believes the scheme would be a cost-effective way of meeting the growing need for food.

It could also breathe new life into many mines that have been closed since the decline of the UK coal industry in the late 1980s and offer a cheaper alternative to vertical farming in giant greenhouses.

As you might already know, The Outer Worlds has been locked into a one-year PC sorta-exclusivity deal with Epic Games, making the PC version of the game only available on the Epic launcher and the Windows store, releasing on Steam exactly one year later.

Just so we’re aware, THIS WASN’T OBSIDIAN’S CHOICE.

The deal was worked out between Epic Games and 2K’s Private Division, the current publisher for Obsidian. This deal overall is most likely going to fuck sales, with the lack of a players using the Epic Launcher for most of their games, gamer’s reluctance to have more than 1-2 game launchers, and the Epic Launcher just overall being a shit platform and extremely inferior to Steam, and barely anyone using the Microsoft store for games.

Oh, and Epic Games being sketchy as shit with their business practices and how they handle user’s data (like collecting data from Steam without their knowledge or permission).

All of this combined is going to make PC sales for The Outer Worlds absolutely tank, and they most likely won’t get much better when it finally does come to Steam, as all the hyper will have worn off within 12 months.

THANKS 2K

TLJ heartbreak thought of the day: Rey’s denial of being abandoned by her family and inability to face the painful truth of her situation on Jakku was so extreme that the fandom consensus on her coping behaviors– marking her walls for thousands and thousands of days, refusing to leave the planet because doing so would mean admitting they were never coming back, wearing adult sized versions of the same clothes and hairstyle she had on the day her parents left her so they would recognize her when they returned– were residual signs or side effects of some force user having used mind control on her when she was a child.  Even the people who didn’t think she was Luke’s daughter figured someone who sensed her potential had been tinkering around in her head and that’s what “I’ve already been away too long–” was all about.  Sometimes in fairy tales we talk about someone being under a magic spell or a curse as a metaphor for trauma, but sometimes it’s just trauma.
