So … power armor.

I hated the implementation of power armor in 3/NV. In no way did it feel like a weapon system that could have played a pivotal role in the re-conquest of Alaska. In no way did it even feel like a weapon system. I was glorified clothing.

In FO4 you have to climb into it as opposed to putting it on, and it changes your HUD so it looks more like something you pilot rather than wear. And it has utility beyond stopping bullets.

Such as jet packs.

And jumps from high up, which should make landing a lot easier :)

The changes to the HUD are mostly aesthetic. I assume the power armor icon to the left shows crippled body parts (either damage to the power armor or the PC) - which in turn makes me think the pip-boy might be inaccessible during power armor rides.

Of particular interest is the core meter, which most people assume will put some cap on power armor use. With the obviously increased power come balancing issues, so I also think some resource system is likely. If done well, it’s certainly a much better solution than just getting power armor for certain missions. It might also provide a mid to late game money sink.

Also note that the jet pack is featured in only one of the shots, meaning that it’s most likely an armor mod - which makes me salivate over what else we might get to build into our power armors. (I want a bomb backpack like Liberty Prime …)
