#Iowa
The Democratic candidate running against anti-immigrant Republican Congressman Steve King (IA) announced Saturday that she is dropping out of the race for her own safety.
Hey so
Part of Fascisms early roots was using violence to scare away potential candidates against their power.
Since the Iowa Caucus is tomorrow here is some useful info for Iowans wanting to support Bernie who may not understand how the caucus works.
In
order to participate in the caucus you have to physically show up
tomorrow Feb 1st, before 7pm. Registration closes at 7pm so be sure to get there early. If you live in Des Moines the lines might be long, so be sure to get there really early.
Each area has their own specified locations for the
caucus, republican and democrats have separate locations. Here is a link to where you can find the democratic locations by county: http://iowademocrats.org/2016-democratic-caucus-locations/
If you are a Iowa resident and will be 18 years of age by November 8, 2016 you can participate in the caucus.
How does the caucus work? Eligible caucus goers divide to form Presidential preference groups. If a preference group for a candidate does not have enough people to be considered “viable,” a threshold set at the beginning of the night, eligible attendees will have an opportunity to join another preference group or acquire people into their group to become viable. Delegates are then awarded to the preference groups based on their size.
How do they decide the winner? On caucus night, Iowans in each precinct elect delegates to their county conventions, but the winner of the caucuses will be the candidate who accrues the most state delegate equivalents. State delegate equivalents are calculated using a ratio of state to county convention delegates. In other words, the ratio determines how many delegates the candidate would receive for the state convention based on the number of county convention delegates a candidate receives.
Please signal boost this if you can! Even if you aren’t from Iowa some of your followers might be. Here are some links with more info:
