The higher rounded hood, slightly wider and longer body gives it a fashionable ook but the primary purpose of the biggest design change in the Jeep's history is to make room for a 72-horsepower F-head engine which goes two-thirds further with 20 per cent more power. Its companion at the left is the pilot model of the 1,500 specially built vehicles which won Willys-Overland the contract to build the first 16,000 Jeeps for the Army a few months before Pearl Harbor."
