hmmmmm, interesting. I think her death was necessary, even for the .000765 seconds of redemption it gave her. 

But going down this rabbit hole. I also don’t know how she would have gone on. If she managed to keep the murder of her aide secret. Old Winn would have clung to power and I would like to think post fire caves Winn would have at least stepped down there’s a part of me that’s not sure. If her role with Dukat, the Pah Wraiths was known she’d probably have been shunned by most of Bajor (except those following the Pah Wraiths and either she’d want nothing to do with them or end up among them). A pariah, and I doubt she could stay on the planet except somewhere remote. The order would have her stripped of her title too. If it wasn’t known, if she, say put herself as a witness to the fight between the Emissary and the Pah Wraiths that could also be interesting. Her popularity could surge and she’d have to decide how to go on with that. Or would she just disappear, maybe leave Kira a message, or a confessional, take a ship and never be seen from again?
