The youngest moonwalker, Charlie Duke (36 years old) stands by the Lunar Rover during Apollo 16, April 1972. Duke served as Lunar Module Pilot for the mission with Commander John Young & Command Module Pilot Ken Mattingly; Duke also was backup LMP for Apollo 17 in Dec later that year. Young & Duke drove the LRV for 16 miles or 26km during their 71 hours upon the lunar surface.
