#Preemptive Strike

I was thinking about the parallels the other day between the final scene in Preemptive Strike and this one from Generations. In both cases Picard doesn’t want to hear whatever Riker’s giving him, and one of them is dressed up in a costume. Picard doesn’t even talk to Riker in the first one as he’s digesting deep feelings of betrayal and disappointment and only goes through the barest motions of command in the other, hiding behind a mask and failing at it pretty quickly.

Main difference of course being that Riker was there firsthand when Ro betrayed him, that report just puts it in details. In Generations Riker is just handing off a report of what they found on the station and Soran wanting to meet with Picard, Picard’s just suffered the loss of his family and hasn’t told anyone about it yet.
