to this day that is still one of the most romcom alike photoshoot pics i’ve seen. every time i see it i still expect it to be a poster of some movie really cheesy movie about a divorcing couple or married couple with marital troubles that are going to therapy

There are essentially two (opposite) levels of Robert Downey Jr. fashion.

One is the “ooh, stylish suits + flashy sneakers combo! MUCH HIP SO STARK STYLIST THANK WOW” level–

(which is his publicity/”I’m promoting something" look)

The other is the “77-year-old retired grandpa in Florida! IDC I’M SUPER COMFY” level–

(which is his normal, “Bob Downey: middle-aged dork” fashion)

In between these two are mountains and valleys of triumphs and disasters.

When I went to be The Tonight Show the day Robert Downey Jr. was a guest, I remember hearing one of the staff members mumbling, “You see him coming out here in his nice suits, but you should have seen him when he arrived. Casual sweater. Nothing matched. It was so weird to see him dressed like that…”
