Eurypterids, the Sea Scorpions, were some of the first complex life to appear on the planet and thrived for nearly 200 million years before finally being wiped out. their ranks included the largest arthropod ever to set wriggly jointed foot on earth, the eight-foot-long monster Jaekelopterus!
