I had not finished uploading my work on RedBubble - so people could finally buy my prints - when Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation has officially managed to take down my one and only Mulder and Scully fanart. 

Yes, you read that right.

To other X-Files fanartists out there, this is probably going to hit you and your work anytime now. I’m quite devastated to see this, especially when shows like NBC Hannibal have been so supportive of artists promoting and sharing their love for the show. 

I’m not aware that ‘fair use’ can protect me from this sort of claim by such a powerful corporation. 

I’m basically expecting FOX to take down my blog and my fanart anytime soon now…

The Canadian federal election is on Monday, Oct. 19, and so I wanted to put together some information and tips for eligible Canadian voters. All info from the Elections Canada website (en Français).

• You are eligible to vote if:
• you are a Canadian citizen, 
• are at least 18 years old on election day, and
• can prove your identity and address
• If you work, your employer is required by law to give you three consecutive hours to vote (however, they can pick the hours, i.e. before or after your shift)
  
• You don’t need to have photo ID to vote! You can show two other piece of ID if one has your address on it, and if you don’t, you can take an oath and have someone attest for you. 
• A passport is not counted as your point piece of photo ID.

• There is information here for ID requirements for transgender voters - names need to match on your ID to the elections register, but if they don’t, you can update your name on the register at the polls on Monday. 
• Your sex, gender expression or a change in the sex indicator do not affect your right to vote.
• You are not required to show ID that indicates gender
• If there’s a problem, talk to the central poll supervisor or designated deputy returning officer.
• If you didn’t get a voter card, you’ll need to register at your polling centre on Monday.

If you’re an eligible Canadian voter, please take the time to vote on Monday. I know it doesn’t always feel like it, but every vote can make a difference. 

Monday, here we come!

so like uh jessica jones pilot episode is definitively one of the best pilot episodes of anything i’ve ever seen, it’s steeped in realism and truth and the visual effects and cinematography were unmatched by anything marvel has ever put out, the characterizations were very rich and real, it was all around incredible. i’m really excited for it to come out because i think a lot of people will be blown away by the quality.

  that being said: since i’ve seen it and i know that a lot of people are highly anticipating it, i want to put out a warning long before it releases on Nov 20th.

as an abuse victim, the show was kind of triggering for me and could potentially be very triggering and upsetting to others. here are some of the things to keep in mind that the first episode had, being as vague as i can so as not to spoil anything:

• alcoholism
• abuse (seriously, huge huge warning on this one)
• graphic violence
• death
• blood
• graphic sex
• paranoia/dread
• scenes of unreality of some kind

again, there could be more, but this is what i can remember–i just don’t want anyone to go into it not knowing and then get triggered and/or hurt. 

You maybe have already heard about the Patreon security breach in which Patreon confirmed that while names, e-mail addresses and mailing addresses were stolen, cc information, passwords and tax forms were not hacked as they were located on a different server. I am personally now seeing reports of that being false and confirmation that password data was in fact stolen. While this may be a futile effort to hold back a flooding dam, you may want to change your password and keep an eye on your personal finances until this enormous mess is cleaned up. I am personally sorry you have to deal with this. I know supporting an artist through is service like patreon is an enormous gamble so thank you for supporting me in light/despite this. Stay safe.
