Thinking about Stargate. Specifically season 8 episode 7, Affinity.

It's the episode where Teal'c gets an apartment and framed for murder.

I was thinking at the end where the kid shows Teal'c his skateboard, which he has put the Mark of Apophis on it.

What that must mean to Teal'c. Like, across the galaxy, that mark, and all the other marks of the goa'uld, it inspires fear and hatred. People see that and see only the cruelty of the goa'uld. That people live in fear of those marks.

Even in the SGC, that's the mark of the enemy. Even though Teal'c is accepted, that mark, his brand, still marks him as an enemy.

But here, in this neighborhood, with these people who know nothing of the goa'uld, that's the mark of someone who will step into problems that arent his in order to protect someone. It's the mark of someone who will stop a mugger and get a lady her purse back. It's the mark of someone who won't just idly by and ignore injustice.

For the first time in his life, there's people who looks at him and sees nothing but a good and honorable man who genuinely wants to help strangers.

It's the mark of honor here. And just maybe, he can make it be seen as a mark if honor to the rest of the galaxy.
