Man it does make sense that Din would need a logistical reason (excuse) to actually adopt Grogu as his son. He’s so pragmatic and utilitarian so he wouldn’t do anything like that because of his feelings or because he wants it. So of course he had to use some weird loophole to be like “well if it’s my only option to adopt this boy I love with my whole heart……..”

I know the other Mandalorian kids like 'why can't we come on missions it's not fair why does Grogu get to go he's only a baby' and their parents are like 'because Grogu's dad is a fucking idiot'

There are two options and both of them are equally funny.  Jon Favreau just let the entire internet call that man Din as his given name and didn’t say a goddamned thing until the end of the third season, casually blowing years of assumed knowledge into absolute shreds, that he waited three full fucking years to drop that bomb despite that his finger was on the trigger the entire time.  Or.  He random woke up one morning halfway into writing the third season and said to himself, “You know what would be really, really funny to do to the entire internet?” and chose the violence in his heart.  I respect both options, Favreau, my hat’s off to you!
