BOBA FETT
THE MANDALORIAN: Chapter 14 - The Tragedy (S02E06)

The armour over the top of the long robe was quite a cool look, I thought, because it was a real departure from the usual silhouette of anyone in Mandalorian armour, of which of course Boba was the first and most iconic image.  He’s back in the suit, but he’s visibly very different too.  (Plus of couse the inherently cool element of surprise in flipping your skirt to shoot someone with your kneecap gun.)  So I hope he’ll stick with this outfit rather than changing into just pants.

In a way the costume variation makes me hope his story is going to involve some change, growth, redemption - he’s already interpreted his promise of safety to Mando in the most generous way possible, and unless there’s an ulterior motive that we don’t yet see, that feels like the act of someone who, although he’s still a ruthless old hardass, is trying to do something good.  He’s still Boba, but he’s not same-old Boba (by which I’m primarily thinking of the angry, lonely, deeply hurt boy we see in The Clone Wars, and I realise we don’t really know much about the personality and feelings of adult Boba; who knows, maybe he’d already made some peace with his past).

Maybe the sarlacc’s digestive juices softened his heart.
