The Signal (2014)

On a road trip, Nic and two friends are drawn to an isolated area by a computer genius. When everything suddenly goes dark, Nic regains consciousness - only to find himself in a waking nightmare.

Small indie sci-fi thriller. Lawrence Fishburne in a secondary role. You can see the reviews.  Seems interesting (with some flaws). On my list of films to watch at home, one day.

The SignalThe Signal (2014)cross that off my listI liked it

So far the story’s a bit muddled but 2 guys and girl are taking the latter to her new home in California? Anyway they’re all students, geeky (and in one case on crutches) there’s some angst but they’ve also been taunted by some guy who hacked into MiT and now is taunting them and they are close to where they think he lives. Although fully aware this is a bad idea (he’s now hacked one of their laptop cameras and traffic cams) they go to confront him anyway. Of course he lives in a shack near a radio tower. Of course the shack is empty but with evidence of server racks. Of course the girl stayed behind in the car after a fight with her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend and of course when they’re in the basement they hear her scream. They rush out (well one does the other limps behind) and all the doors in the car are open. There’s a jump cut and oh she’s being flung somewhere (or abducted without the telltale saucer beam) more jump cuts later and we wake up with one in a quarantine ward….
