Neither. It will and will always be The Sisko! He’s punched Q right in the face and lived! He headed an entire intergalactic war and a few rebellions! He is the Emissary of the Prophets! He created a Federation warship specifically built to kill Borg and called it the USS Defiant, a name that just gives the middle finger, and you might as well call it Ben Sisko’s Motherfuckin’ Pimp Hand, but it was just too long to scrawl on the marquee. He was really the only captain allowed to date, marry, and have a family for more than a single episode. He was given an amazing growth as a character and not all his decisions were black and white, but almost always a shade of grey. He’s so awesome that he has a “the” in front of his freakin’ name! He’s my captain! He is The Sisko!
his infinite adaptability. it seems like he’s constantly revising his view of the world and his systems of decision-making to account for new evidence, which I admire, and which is a crucial skill for someone in his delicate position.
he is a giant dork who enjoys making life-size replicas of ancient starships. actually, Sisko has two Special Interests, mechanical engineering and baseball, both of which he is REALLY INTENSE about. he’s like a model train enthusiast writ large, and it’s presented as refreshingly unweird.
the multi-generational Sisko family is made of happiness and sunshine and CAN I JUST. Benjamin Sisko’s commitment to family is legitimately inspiring. I mean, he still visits his father’s restaurant back on Earth, but he’s also dedicated to creating familial bonds between his senior officers and home away from home and bluahjkfdhsdfhj. this is important when you’re out in space.
