no setup-payoff will ever HIT as fucking hard as when the Tenth doctor got the prophecy that he will die when “he knocks four times” and we spend the entire season thinking its because of the main antagonist- who has a constant knocking/drumming sound in his head.. thinking that the doctor is in the clear when said antagonist dies and the prophecy DIDNT come true... feeling the doctor’s relief that he’s managed to escape death once again..................... only for wilfred mott to knock four times on the glass chamber he’s trapped in. your setup-payoff might be good but it will never be THIS fucking good
