@airyairyaucontraire was recently reminding me of the Kong Skull Island casting with three major actors that are in the MCU, but now I can’t think of the Canadian cult classic Exotica (1994) where movie Christopher Pike goes to a strip club every night pining over DSC Amanda Grayson….
#amanda grayson
amanda would be that mom at pride, yelling at protesters and giving her kids numbers out
you know what i’m gonna say it
amanda was peak fashion. every outfit she had, she was absolutely killin it. literally no one had better fashion. absolutely the best.
Sarek’s got his ass kicking boots on
au where everything is the same but Jim already knows everything about Spock's family because the first thing he did when he saw that hot science officer was to space Google him. He then feigns surprise every time a new relative show up despite having been Spacebook friends with Amanda for a year before meeting her.
Headcanon that Amanda goes along with it and never tells Sarek either. They both know the importance of letting their men have an air of mystery, you know, for the ‘Vulcan drama factor’ that both are all too familiar with and talk about almost daily.
Spock eventually decides to tell Amanda he and Jim are dating and travels home to Vulcan where he finds Jim sitting in the kitchen snacking on Amanda’s home made rugelach.
Excuse me for a moment while I consider the pure comedy of Spock gearing up to tell his mother this big secret, walking into the kitchen like “Mother...” and then Amanda takes one step to the side so he can see the kitchen table where Jim’s sitting. Jim’s mouth is stuffed with pastry. The hand holding another rugelach he’s about shove into his mouth stop. Their eyes meet. Spock raises an eyebrow.
modern portrayals of Amanda Grayson: serene, classy, soft-spoken, conservatively dressed, carries a sense of quiet dignity and wisdom
TOS Amanda Grayson: wine mom, mischievous, dresses like she’s from Whoville, been around long enough to not give a fuck, knows she’s right
Winona Ryder as Amanda Grayson in Star Trek (2009)
