Four former First Doctor companions had cameos in An Adventure in Space and Time: William Russell (Ian Chesterton), Carole Ann Ford (Susan Foreman), Jean Marsh (Sara Kingdom), and Anneke Wills (Polly Wright).

During Anneke Wills’s tenure as companion, episodes of Doctor Who were filmed a week ahead of transmission. So while her children were at home watching the newest episode with their father (actor Michael Gough), Anneke was in the studio filming the next week’s episode. If Polly had an encounter with a monster that week, the situation at home could become a little uncertain…
