what is ur fav episode of star trek? of all of the serieses put together?

fuck that’s a hard one. It’s a tie between TNG’s Tapestry and DS9′s In the Pale Moonlight. I’ve been thinking a lot about the latter lately and how perfect it was.

Tapestry is a personal fave, it’s all about misspent youth and trying to relive a moment and having Q as your ghost of christmas past is just awesome. there’s no important fate, it’s your own personal little story. “To be blunt, you’re not that important.” Picard quickly losing his composure when confronted by his father and frankly that entire monologue in the turbolift and that last scene with Q are just some of the best television ever. “That man is bereft of passion and imagination!” Nausicaans are a bit one dimensional tho.

In the Pale Moonlight on the other hand is Dark Trek. It’s been referred to as The Systematic Deconstruction of Roddenberryism. It’s about how much are you willing to personally sacrifice of your soul to get the right thing done. And sometimes getting the right thing done means getting your hands dirty. bribing people. falsifying information. killing people. Making a martyr out of an asshole. Sisko’s monologue is so much foretelling for this episode. His repeating of “I can live with it” as if trying it on for size. It does it so well too, not like say STID. It’s also that at this point in the season the Dominion War is still going on and Trek up to that point really had been notorious for episodism and here we have this war arc that keeps on giving. Sure DS9 has been recaptured and the Dominion can’t get reinforcements through the wormhole but it doesn’t matter, they’re still winning. Sisko gets that 3am call, the Dominion invaded Betazed…
