It’s also very much a filmic trope of John McTiernan.  It’s just like that scene where the onscreen language for everyone changes to English in Hunt For Red October, even though you know they’re still speaking Russian.  It’s the narrative language that’s changing.

right, it’s a funny trope. The movie isn’t about him spending time learning this language and we won’t have him speaking through an interpreter the entire time. Still just looks like one campfire night and the words flow and what was that about my mother?!
