I almost forgot to mention: this woman came into the penguin enclosure with a KESTREL??? I said “oh my god is that an American Kestrel?” and she said “Yes! She was outside doing raptor education for the kids, but she doesn’t like to get rained on.”

i think something that freaks people out about birds might be their movements: like unlike mammals (derogatory) birds (but also like reptiles and bugs) don’t have many facial expressions, and they move in quick sharp snaps of their necks\bodies, almost like machines if you really really wish to describe it as such?? but personally i’m in love with it, it’s just almost mesmerizing, so fascinating, their ways of moving and interacting with the world really gets me, they’re listening!!! they’re paying attention!!!
i can’t get enough of dinosaurs and their quirkiness, in this house we love and appreciate birds traits

People are just jealous that these birds move funky and they don’t.
