reblog the Don Draper of getting a job he’s unqualified for and you’ll have 10 years of getting jobs you’re unqualified for
No but my dad actually did this at McDonalds in the 70s!
So here’s a true story: my father, sometime in the 70s was looking for his first job. He went to the local McDonalds and told the staff, [manager’s name] said I was supposed to start today. They took his word for it and started training him and by the time the manager saw him and asked who he was, people just said “oh that’s the new guy.”
Somehow this actually worked. My dad worked there for a couple of years as a cook. He even won an award plaque which he had on the wall until the day he died.

Confidence Helps
Me, walking into FBI Headquarters:
“Name’s Burt Macklin, I work here now.”
A lady around here just got 2 years in jail for being a nurse for 20 years.
She just realised a nurse in her area had the same name, stole her credentials and started working.
“ [Lawyer] said the woman was even responsible for training others.
There were some cases where, in the operating room, doctors noticed she struggled with certain medical devices, but that wasn’t enough to give her away, said [other Lawyer] .”
Okay that’s fair, they didn’t accidentally do anything, but what they did was EXTREMELY COOL. They located a cluster of genes that were present in birds but NOT present in non-beaked creatures and then they turned it off.
And lo, the embryo’s beak instead formed like a snouted reptile. Pictured below: Left chicken embryo, right alligator embryo, middle… the altered chicken embryo with the cluster turned off:

The scientist, whose name is Bhart-Anjan Bhullar, responsible for creating the embryo did not have a desire or the approval to hatch the babies, which is why we, the public, do not have photos of resurrected dinosaurs, but they’ve said they believed the babies could have hatched and been fine.
This is all PARTICULARLY INTERESTING because scientists have also discovered how to cause scale cells to start to form into feathers. We’re not about to see plumed lizards any time soon, since the experiment only only sought to determine how proto-feathers might have started to evolve from scales, but it was still freaking cool!!
Basically we’re poking around learning how evolution really works, and that’s super exciting!!
I want every single person involved with this research to have a mandatory viewing of jurassic park before this project takes even one more step
You fail to understand scientists if you don’t think every single person involved with this research HAS seen Jurassic Park and has detailed critique on how to do it better
