Is bringing a helo to a swordfight considered cheating?
Why?
Basically A platoon’s worth of soldiers (and of various branches, Army (well Self-Defence Force, Navy, and Air Force) are sent back in time by something to Feudal Japan. This predates most mainstream Alternate History books of that genre that I can I can think of offhand (except of course A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court). I wonder how this will play out against others of the genre like Island in the Sea of Time (Nantucket gets flung back to 1250 BCE) 1632 (A West Virginia Town gets thrown in the middle of the 30 Years War - and I stopped after the 2nd book, too many for me to catch up on), Weapons of Choice (A Navy Task Force 2020 from is sent back to Midway, 1942). Tangential Reading should also include Destroyermen (An aged Navy destroyer from WWII is sent to an alternate world where humans never existed) and The Lost Regiment (a regiment from the civil war lands on alien shores where humans are slaves).
In other words, I’m ready for these soldiers and their equipment (cuz they have their equipment too, even if they’re few) to tear ass in feudal japan.
