HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREGORY PECK! there’s been so few people in old hollywood who were as genuinely good and kind hearted as he was and i’m so, so, so thrilled to be thinking of him today. he filled the world with such love and hope, leaving behind works like to kill a mockingbird and on the beach — works with messages that needed to be told and ones he believed wholeheartedly in. there have been so few old people i’ve encountered or heard of who genuinely believed the answer to the world’s issues rested in the hands of a younger generation, and there have been even fewer who i’ve seen really attempt to listen and learn. gregory peck was one of those beautiful individuals and i’m happy he is engrained in the culture of america today, to be learned about for generations at schools and loved fiercely by all. he believed that a better world could happen and strove fiercely to get there. he was more than an icon or a movie star — he was an inspiration

As many critics noted Stanley Donen filmed this thriller in an uncharacteristically flamboyant style, using bizarre camera angles and eccentric visual compositions throughout. He later admitted that he had never felt that the screenplay was quite right (many writers worked on it, and it was rumored to be still being re-worked during shooting), so he had given the film an unusual look to disguise its shortcomings.
