but who are the three brothers of neutrality? the hemsworths? or are they the neutral sisters? the sisters from full house? this is a question that needs to be answered

Watching Star Trek and thinking about Transformers so how about an AU where Cybertron is part of the Federation?

• ship-sized transformers integrating with federation systems and being a member of the crew as much as anyone inside.
  
• Ship sized transformers having cassettes to monitor things, and help repair.
• Transformers having to explain to humans that you can’t just take a cassette from a ship after they try to treat the cassettes like property or interchangable personnel. 
• On the flip side, a new job being ‘Ship speaker’ who is an engineer that can translate the ship’s problems, ideas, and wishes.
• Transformers of varying sizes on ships to accommodate their size.
• Cassettes and mini bots working side by side with humanoids.
• Vulcans and Transformers having lovely friendly debates about the nature of emotions.
• Transformers with paint jobs that match starfleet uniforms.
• Transformers with shuttle alt-modes helping with exploration and such
• Transformers with gun alt modes helping with security.
• Medical bots that work with humans in the med bay and engineers in the ship
• People that criticize the Cybertronians because of a war that lasted millions of years.
• Cybertronians facing the same problems as Data in TNG
• You could even go so far to make Primus some kind of weird Q experiment or something.

• Lots of “What measure is a Non-human” stories with questions of “Are they robots or are they People?”

• Like the OP said, certain humanoid engineers being part of medical!

• And Cybertronian medics with a specialization in organic medicine!

• The shuttle stuck on the alien planet is also part of the crew: you can’t just beam the humanoids off. (Or, as a very angry Cybertronian crewmember says it: “You can’t just beam the squishies off and leave!”)

• Young humans commanding bots much older than them. Cybertronians commanding humanoids.

• Cybertronian recreation officers on Federation ships! And communications officers!

• Ship is a garbage scow? Whoops, that jerk just insulted our Cybertronian engineer’s conjunx…

• Guests not realizing that the ship is a person; they’re not talking to an AI.

• Said ship gleefully pranking guests until they realize.

• The ship has the captain’s back when it comes to meddling Admirals. And doing the Right Thing against orders. “He says ‘Just tell them I took you there on my own.’”

• Main Character Cybertronian crewmember still has Autobot/Decepticon sentiment. There are Dramatic Issues with another crewmember.

• Friendships.

• Someone gives Joe Human an antique faction badge as a token of friendship…but why are half the ship’s Cybertronians not speaking to him now??

- Cybertronians encountering the Soong Type Androids (mostly Data and Lal) and being astonished at how squishies were capable of developing such advanced and sophisticated technological beings.
- Cybertronians forming friendships with Trill hosts/symbionts which last centuries (though think of all the drama and heartbreaking situations when the symbionts have to change hosts because the Trill gets mortally injured during a mission or dies of old age).
- Cybertronian/Federation crew encountering the Borg (also Cybertronians getting assimilated into the collective).
- Cybertronians becoming buddies with sentient holograms, similar to the Doctor.
- certain Cybertronians (like Swindle or Octane) partaking in shady deals with some non-Federation potential threats like the Ferengi or Cardassians.
- Cybertronians studying at Starfleet Academy.
- some of the more grizzled, old Cybertronian ex-soldiers/war veterans forming friendships and comradery with members of certain races, like Klingons or Andorians - exchanging stories from the days of old and ancient war songs, while drinking excessive amounts of Energon/Bloodwine/Andorian Ale.
- Cybertronians helping run Federation colonies.
- Q fucking around with the Cybertronian crew (even taking an appropriate form of a Cybertronian).
