On the topic of representation, I want everyone to remember that Jason Momoa was inspired by Temuera’s early work and it helped him be more comfortable in his Polynesian identity.

Māori and Hawaiian are sometimes called sister cultures, due to their close relation genetically and culturally. Many words are shared between the cultures as are traditions! Under the Polynesian banner, these two are some of the most similar.

Representation matters! It has always mattered!

And I’m so thankful to Temuera for playing so many impactful roles for the Polynesian community.
