Events at Standing Rock on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2017.

Y'all, this is still happening. Please don’t forget about the protectors putting their bodies on the line. Please don’t let them be brutalized by law enforcement. Please stand with Standing Rock. They will need it in the coming weeks and months as inauguration gives way to pro-oil, anti-Native politics.

The DAPL news is definitely something to be proud of but don’t think that the work is done. Jan Hasselman, who serves as an attorney for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, said that the Energy Transfer Partners can still sue this decision, and Trump can try to overturn it. This is a lengthy process that will takes years (with a better explanation why below) and we need to watch it as decisions are made. Remember the pipeline is still being built and it’s going somewhere.

[Text reads: I do admin law for a living so let me explain how this corps decision plays out. The refusal to grant the easement stop the pipelines… for now. Trump could easily reverse it. But, the decision to order an EIS delays the pipeline for at least several years. If Trump orders the corps to stop the EIS process, several groups will sue, arguing that the reversal is arbitrary and capricious. And they will likely win, which means the EIS will be completed. That takes 2+ years. If the EIS ultimately recommends the same of similar route, several groups will sue, delaying it for 2+ more years. 1 year for suit in federal court, and 2 more year for appeal. Bottom line: decision to order an EIS that Trump probably cannot force a pipeline through same/similar route for 4+ years.]

We also have to remember that many water protectors are still going to be needing help with medical and legal funds so keep an eye out how to still help.

[Facebook post by Standing Rock Rising that reads:

“BREAKING: We are getting reports that Oceti Sakowin Camp has requested 100 cots for an emergency shelter from the Red Cross to help in a crisis for the current snow storm. According to reliable sources, Morton County Sheriff’s have asked the Red Cross NOT to provide Water Protectors with cots, or any emergency services during the remainder of the current winter storm. THEY ARE LITERALLY ASKING EMERGENCY SERVICES TO NOT HELP PEOPLE.

If the Morton County Sheriffs, and the Governor are so concerned with Water Protectors safety, why are they literally putting so many people’s lives at risk during one of the most crucial times of emergency, and asking emergency services to turn their cheek to people that could potentially be casualties resulting from their direct action?

Lets hope the Red Cross stands on the side of humanity and safety, and not on the side of corruption in this situation. The entire fabric of this country is being unraveWe have trust you will do the right thing.

SHAME ON YOU.

Well, i guess they’re ordered to kill the protesters.

First they put their life in danger, shoot at them with rubber bullets, they use  tear gas,  concussion grenades and water cannons and then they don’t let them have a medical treatment.  75 (!!!) law enforcement agencies were sent there from 10 states  to police the PEACEFUL protesters. That’s insane. People are trying to protect their land  and someone is trying so hard to get money from the pipeline that he/ she is ready to kill people for it.

Just some background on the Nat’l Guard Unit.  This Unit has members that served in Iraq, Gitmo Bay, and now are on stand by to go to Afghanistan.  Exactly what you do not need to face this situation.
