It’s not a warship, it’s a SUPPORT ship, it provides fuel, food, repair parts, aid, and comfort to any ship in international waters. Navy logistics ships have been being named for civil society figures, including activists, since the 1940s. A lot of Liberty Ships were named for abolitionists and suffragettes. This is routine and unsurprising and has nothing to do with the party in power. This class of ships is litteraly named the John Lewis class.
