He said Colonel Ives was the man responsible.
Apparently there was a lot cut from Ravenous that would have seen Boyd as a much more heroic character and I am SO glad that was scrapped because having him be so hesitant, ineffective, and lacking in self-awareness for much of the film makes his eventual resolve to kill Ives at any cost and then finally allowing himself to die as well that much more satisfying.
