Can I tell you how much I feel about Sarek thinking about Spock being as momentous as the namesake he chose?
“One of Vulcan’s early society builders.”
He believed the child he had with this human woman, the love of his life, was going to make such an impact and not because of his status as a viable, half-Vulcan hybrid child. Yes, I know they put it in there because Spock Prime eventually would help rebuild Vulcan society after the deal with Nero.
But if this is a moment both Spock and Spock Prime share, then think about the implications. He thought his child was going to change and shape Vulcan society in ways he never thought he would. And not just because of his actual existence or that he was the heir to the clan/house/family of Surak.
I think Sarek was beyond proud, even on his death bed in Unification, that Spock didn’t just change Vulcan society and made a good contribution but he changed Starfleet and the Federation with his actions. His actions on his tours of the Enterprise have helped countless lives. The Khitomer Accords shaped the very future of the Alpha Quadrant and Klingon-Federation relations. He tried to do the same with the Romulans as well.
I think Sarek chose well, even after Amanda’s initial reluctance. And even if he didn’t get to show it to his son as much as he could, Spock exceeded beyond his expectations.
His son was like the Vulcan society builders, a shaper and maker of worlds.
I don’t think a father could get prouder than that.
sarek: [busts jim’s door down] wheres my son’s SOUL asshole
jim: ?????????????????
sarek: sorry i just assumed he’d put his soul into your body? my mistake.

I like to think of Amanda as the jet setter of Vulcan. Like everyone wears these drab clothes and then BAM! Lady Amanda walking down the street in these bright human colours and she is just gorgeous and all the fashion designers of Vulcan are all like ‘Ooh aah Ambassador Sarek’s bondmate is just so logically fabulous!’ She would be like this wonderful socialite in Shi’Khar and then you would see all of these Vulcan women start incorporating these bright fabrics and flowers and jewelry to complement their dull clothing.

Lady Amanda can’t be tamed.
