This movie is so bad ass and deserves to be spoken of in the same terms as the Marvel films and Burton’s Batman.

This is incredibly underrated as a comic book film.

Steve Barron used the actual early Mirage issues to storyboard scenes. He refused to simply make a “kiddie” film based solely from the animated series. He believed children could handle the more mature aspects. Funny to think that the original cut was apparently even darker.

The effects by Jim Henson’s shop can’t be understated, this was a huge leap in puppetry.

It’s a film that almost didn’t happen, and the road to completing it is a fascinating one. It’s a story that deserves to be told. Unfortunately this movie has the stigma of being simply a “Ninja Turtles” movie.

It’s far from “perfect”, whatever you personally think that is. It is however the best TMNT film that will ever be.
