#uk politics
The Daily Star newspaper in the UK has started a live feed to see if the current Prime Ministership will last longer than a Tesco lettuce. (Caution: there’s already discussion of the lettuce’s gender in the live chat. And a lot of talk about gruel.) (Also, kudos to the genius who put the googly eyes on the lettuce.)
ETA: it’s got a wig too, now. :)
Do the hair you coward
Is this what kinning is?
I can't believe you've done this
Good afternoon Tumblrs, Liz Truss has already lost the support of the Daily Mail.
This is so funny. It's so bleak and you can only laugh or cry but it's so funny. And I've been looking at all these polls as the popularity gap between parties gets wider and wider and thinking "This is amazing, but obviously won't translate precisely into votes."
Today YouGov released the results of the voting intentions of rural voters in October 2022. Rural voters are historically very blue in their voting habits, of course. Farmers love Tories.
This is absurd.
Its honestly so funny how people who are mourning the queen's death are so pigshit stupid that they end up saying shit thats wayyyy more tasteless than all of the normal people making fun of her.
Mcdonalds putting up a branded menu variant about her funeral, some sextoy website having a funeral banner up, her funeral footage accidentally capitalizing the words "Among Us", crossfit including a minute of silence in their daily workout plan, people lining up for 30 hours to go look at a box that maybe has a corpse in it, Guantanamo bay putting the mcdonalds flag at half mast, the royal family fanblogs posting sad bitmojis and the thomas jefferson miku binder artist seriously arguing that she's gonna reincarnate as a horse are all infinitely funnier forms of mockery than I'd ever be able to come up with
BBC reporting on North Korea overlaid on Queen’s funeral procession.
its important to note with the queens death, a lot of shit things have been reversed after complaints.
center parcs are letting guests stay after people complained. at least on of the food banks has backtracked on saying it will close. there's national pushback against the protest arrests and the met police have released a statement saying protest is allowed and officers will be told this.
so don't stop pushing back against this shit. don't stop telling them that this is bullshit and we won't let it stand.
and also remember that community and mutual aid are one of the most important ways to support each other in times of crisis as we sink deeper into the tory cost of living hellscape.
