She has a decade at the state legislature under her belt, so she's a seasoned politican. This was Alaska's first run at trying out ranked choice voting, which is really significant.
This was a special election, though -- her seat in Congress is up for re-election this November.

Yesterday Kansas citizens went to vote on a bill that would take away abortion rights and allow for an all out ban on abortion even in cases of rape and incest. The result was a resounding defeat for conservatives as 60% of voters said NO. Even with conservatives harassing registered democrats with pro life propaganda and even with a campaign to intentionally confuse democratic voters by telling them that voting yes was protecting abortion rights they lost big time. This was a huge surprise as Kansas is a red state and has a history of anti abortion extremism including a murder of an abortion doctor. This is a huge slap in the face to conservatives and a massive victory for everyone that can get pregnant. We still have our right to abortion!

Good news, though. If you divorce in ANY state, atm, other states have to recognize it. South Dakota, Washington, and Alaska require 0 days’ residency to file for divorce.
Funny how Mr. Thomas didn’t put changing that on his wish list dissent, either (he and his first wife divorced).
